I came across a website that will allow me to publish a newsletter for free. So I'm thinking - why not give it a try if it's free. Sooooooo, if you are interested in following my jewelry business and get some "newsletter only" specials just sign up for Caty Ann's Creations Newsletter here. I will probably start out with a quarterly newsletter and see what response I get and go to a bi-monthly or maybe even monthly newsletter later on.

Let me know what you think :)

One More to go

Finally - another somewhat successful show yesterday!! It was the Annual Christmas Craft Show and House Walk at the Fairview Elementary School in Sherwood OH. It was a lot of fun and very busy. I even got to see a few old friends I haven't seen in years and make a few new friends too!

Here are some pics I took...

I planned on this being the last show of the year. However, someone we met at the Angola show a few weeks ago called and asked if Edna and I would like to set up at a small show at the Angola VFW on the 19th of December. So....we decided, what the heck, might as well do one more!

Now I will have to make some more pieces over the next couple of weeks to "restock".

It is sunny and cold in NW Ohio this morning - what a beautiful day!!! Hope everyone is enjoying the day!!

Busy Beader...

Whew!! I've been a busy beader!!! Trying to get some new products ready before the next show this weekend.

This piece was my first attempt at wireworking. I call it Serpentine Splendor.

This is one of the longer necklaces I have designed. I knew as soon as I saw the clear glass pendant with waves of blues and turquoise how I wanted to use it. This is Tropical Waves.

The pink beads and gunmetal heart pendant were given to me by my Mother-in-law. I think the beads are lace agate and I accented them with quartz beads and call this one Frosty Pink.

That's it for tonight - I'm off to slumber land!

Where Has November Gone???

Wow - I just realized I haven't posted since the 7th of November!! My how times flies when you are having fun....and I have been having fun!

After the good show in Angola on the 7th, we had a mediocre show in Montpelier on the 21st. That isn't dirt on my face - LOL - the show was the day of the Ohio State/Michigan football game and I had an OSU tatoo on my cheek! GO BUCKEYES!!!!

And the show in Auburn today was a total bust for me! I was really disappointed as I anticpated that this would be a good one. Guess shoppers shopped out on "Black Friday" and didn't feel like getting out again the next day.

I also displayed my Breast Cancer Awareness jewelry, Christmas jewelry and bookmarks at a Woman's Conference in Archbold, OH, on the 14th. My BFF, Melissa, was kind enough to invite me to share her Juice Plus table.

Adding new items to my inventory has been a top priority this month. I've made over 30 bookmarks this month and sold 1/3 of them. Blue seems to be the color of the month as most of the jewelry I've designed recently has been with blue beads although I did one set in pink and another in green. I purchased the beautiful black/blue dichroic pendant below from a fellow artisan, Kelly Dempsey, at the Archbold conference. I will be purchasing more pendants from her as she is local (Defiance). I prefer to support local artisans whenever possible.

I will get these new pieces posted to Artfire in the next day or too.

Christmas Craft Show - Angola, IN

Had a successful craft show at the Fairview Missionary Church in Angola Indiana today. There was a big crowd and I had good sales...FINALLY!!

It was a fun day!! Now I have to make more jewelry for the next show in 2 weeks...

I'm off to bed - goodnight all!!

November is almost here!

I can't believe October is almost gone and November is just around the corner!! I'm running wayyyyy behind getting my Christmas jewelry uploaded to my online shops. But I plan to work diligently on it this weekend and hopefully have everything uploaded by Monday. I also plan to run a special in my Artfire shop, probably free shipping, I'm still trying to decide.

I've been spending a lot of time checking out various social networks for artisans and those of us who love handcrafted items. And I've also been checking out jewelry magazines looking for ideas and instructions to fine tune my craft. When I tackle a new project I have a compelling desire to learn everything there is to know about it! And that can be pretty mind boggling sometimes!!

Richard had to work today, bless his heart, so it's been a quite morning. Our twin grandsons, Chase and Connor, have a football game at 1:00 pm - a playoff game - so I probably should get some video of the game since Grandpa won't be able to go.

Be sure to keep checking back and checking my shops for new items and specials for Christmas.

Top of Ohio Traders Market

Another busy weekend - two day show at the Williams County Fairgrounds in Montpelier, OH. Saturday was cold and windy - thankfully we were indoors. Didn't seem to keep the shoppers away though. I thought there was a fairly good crowd both days. Unfortunately, they seemed to be doing more looking than buying. Sunday was sunny with temps in the 60's and the visitors were buying more. Enough was made to cover the booth fee and have enough left to buy more Christmas beeds. I also got leads on several upcoming shows.

I made several new friends which is always the best part of doing these shows. One was a sweet young woman from Fremont, IN named Tarma. She is a very talented artist who had some beautiful items in her booth. She handpaints glassware and does an amazing job. Her glass ornaments were awesome! Please check out the beautiful items in her shop The Wishing Well. She also has  a website at http://www.tarma.mysite.com/

This was the last scheduled show until November 21st....maybe. I found out there is a Christmas Craft Show on November 14th at NW State Community College in Archbold, OH and I am going to try and get a booth there. So I will have a few weeks to get more Christmas pieces created before the next big show.

Winding Down from a Busy Day...and Week!!

It's been a busy, but fun day. The weather was great - sunny and cool - the perfect fall day in NW Ohio.

It all started with a 9AM soccer game starring our youngest grandson, Cameron. He scored three goals. This was his first one... (if you listen real close you can hear Kendall singing in the background)

Kendall was being "Grandma's Girl". Papaw took our picture.

After the game it was a quick trip to WalMart and then off to the twin's football game. Connor caught a pass for a 12 yard gain, setting up a score by his brother, Chase, on a 21 yard TD pass. It was very exciting, especially since it was the only score of the game and their team's first win!!

Then it was back to the house to watch Ohio State beat Wisconsin - GO BUCKS!!

OK, I know this is supposed to be a blog journaling my jewelry making progress, but a Grandma has the right to brag a little bit - right? And besides, it's my blog so I can get "off track" every now and then if I want! LOL

I received confirmation today for booth space for the next show. It will be the Top of Ohio Trader's Market in Montpelier, OH at the fairgrounds on 10/24-25/09 Saturday (9AM-5P) and Sunday(10AM-4PM).

Beads were ordered last week to make Christmas pieces - angel earrings, Christmas Tree earrings, snowmen earrings, Christmas bracelets. I found some gorgeous lampwork Christmas beads at Austin Hamilton. I can't wait until they arrive and a I can start making Christmas items! I had the right beads to make two pair of angel earrings...it's a start! :)

New items have been added to both my Artfire shop and my Zibbet shop. Check them often as I'll be adding more items almost everyday.

Johnny Appleseed Festival

Saturday and Sunday I had a booth at the Johnny Appleseed Festival in Defiance, OH. The weather wasn’t very cooperative – cloudy,  cold, windy, sometimes misty….poor attendance, minimal sales. I made enough to cover my booth cost, but not much more.

Busy, Busy, Busy

So much has been going on since my first show. I walked in the NW Ohio Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Toledo last Sunday with my sister, Melinda and daughter, Heather. We had so much fun and plan to participate again next year.

On our way to Toledo on Sunday, Heather received a phone call that her new niece had arrived (4 weeks early) and was being transferred to Cincinnati Children's Hospital. So after the race, we headed to Toledo Hospital to see how Kim (Heather's sister-in-law) was doing. She looked great and was waiting to be transferred to Cincinnati to be with her new daughter and the rest of her family.

Natalie was born with some pretty serious birth defects and had surgery yesterday. By the grace of God she is doing great. But she will be having several more surgeries.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month - THINK PINK!! I have designed several pieces of jewelry for this cause. After all, I am a breast cancer survivor myself!!

Have a 2 day show this weekend. It is outdoors and supposed to rain!! Ughhhh!! I need to get busy the next couple of days and get some more pieces created.

Fall Festival - Bryan, OH

My first festival was a success - not a big success - but a few sales were made, I covered expenses and had a little spending money left at the end of the day. And I had fun - that is the most important part.

The skies were ominous all morning and there were brief periods of light sprinkles. By lunchtime the clouds were thinning out and the sun actually peaked through a few times.

We arrived shortly after 8:00AM and found my "spot" on the sidewalk.

Richard helped me set up my table and I started setting up.

I probably should have done a "dry run" at home last week. A larger table would have been nice or maybe even another table like the one I have. Will remember to take along another table next week....

But I managed to fit everything on the table I had and it didn't look too bad. I'm open for constructive criticism from anyone with experience doing shows. I need all the help I can get - LOL

Here I am sitting at my table waiting for customers, chatting with a passerby.

Many nice compliments were made on my jewelry. Several commented that I had a good eye for design. I found it interesting that most everyone commented on the same two or three pieces.

Overall it was a good experience and I'm already looking forward to next weekend's show - it's a "2-Day"

Tomorrow is the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Toledo so I'll have another "early" morning. My sister, Melinda, my daughter, Heather, and I will be leaving  bright and early in the morning. Hope it doesn't rain!!

Show Day!!!!

It's finally here!!! My first craft show. I'm soooooo excited. Everything is priced, tagged and boxed up ready to take to the show. It's cool out and cloudy, but the forecast for rain has been changed to cloudy this morning and partly sunny this afternoon with highs in the upper 60's. A PERFECT day for shopping!!!

The Beads Arrived!!

What a wonderful weekend. I received my bead order on Saturday morning and have made 22 school bracelets. Helped Richard work on jewelry displays this morning in between doing laundry and painting trim in the kitchen! - Whew!!!  Will post pics of the displays when we get them all done. We went to a local flea market and bought some unique items to use as jewelry displays.

As for the kitchen project....it's been an ongoing thing for the last several years. Every time Richard thinks we're done, I think of something else I want to do.

Our grandsons had a good weekend on the football field. Chase (5th grader) caught his first pass and almost scored a touchdown - he was tackled on the 5 yard line! And Ethan (2nd grader) intercepted a pass and scored a TD!! I just LOVE watching them play sports!!

This busy weekend has me worn out so I'm gonna hit the sheets early tonight. Sweet dreams all!

Another set completed!!

Sometimes I'm at a total loss trying to name my designs. I guess my creativity lies in designing the piece - not naming it. But sometimes the name is obvious. Like the set I designed tonight - I'm going to call it "Rose Red".

The countdown to show day is getting closer - only eight days now. I'm going to have to design like crazy for the next week. I have an order of beads due in tomorrow or Saturday from Fire Mountain (http://www.firemountaingems.com/). I received my order of purple glass pearls from BeadBuddies (http://www.beadbuddies.net/) today for school bracelets. They will be quick and easy to make - just spell out the school mascot in alpha-beads and finish with the school colors - string on elastic cord and "walah" - I'm hoping the kids will love them. There are 6+ schools in the immediate area, so I'm going to be busy!!

What a weekend!!!

Ended up being a VERY busy weekend in spite of the "minor" surgery I had on Friday morning. Saturday afternoon our grandsons - Chase and Connor - had a 5th/6th grade football game - and, of course, there was no way I was going to miss that - it was their first game. Unfortunately they lost :( But it was still fun watching them. Saturday evening we had our daughter's two - Cameron and Kendall - for a couple of hours. That about did me in for the day! But it was soooo much fun spending time with family - grandkids are the greatest!!!

Friday Night - My First Post

Well, here I go....my very first blog post. It's been a very busy, tiring day. Had minor out-patient surgery this morning - a little cosmetic repair to the breast reconstruction I had done earlier this year. It wasn't so bad...went shopping with my sister, Melinda and Mama afterwards; rested a couple hours after we got home; then went to our local HS football game with hubby. Now I'm having a difficult time keeping my eyes open :)
